Dear Ed,
Kate and her husband Dan were stepping into a joyful new chapter: settling into their dream home, deciding on child care for their baby boy, and joining the YMCA with hope for all that was ahead.
Then their new home revealed major structural issues. They had to move out. And in the middle of searching for a new place to live, Kate learned she was pregnant with twins.
Three kids. Mounting bills. No permanent home.
Kate applied for financial assistance through the YMCA and qualified for tuition assistance for her children to attend West Essex YMCA's Peanut Shell Early Childhood Learning Center, along with a sibling discount. That support helped her family afford an apartment while they searched for a new home.
Through it all, her three boys were cared for, supported, and thriving at the Y.
"The aid definitely helped us get back on our feet. Without the discount, we'd just be racking up debt," Kate said.
